![]() ![]() Also if I managed my time better I would have had the time to learn and master many aspects of Premiere Pro that I was unable to in such short segments of editing. Such as editing took a lot longer that I originally thought it would and I ended up with far less time to do this evaluation. Things that I would have changed next time I make a production like this one would include managing my time and not underestimating how much time everything takes to do. The masked people are also mentioned with the lyrics “And don't you worry what the bitter hearts are gonna say.” Which says that: don’t think about them and try to overcome them (which she does at the end when she walks away from them leaving them in the street. “ It's only in your head you feel left out or looked down on.” Refers to the masked people and who they will try to stop the protagonist from getting what she wants from life. These lyrics correspond to the theme of hindrances as the “little girl referred to in the song could refer to our protagonist and how she is “stuck” in the “middle of the ride” which would be life. This song has the lyrics “it just takes some time little girl you’re in the middle of the ride, everything, everything, everything will be alright”. The song in question was the acoustic rendition of “The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World. ![]() My favorite part of the production was the song choice and how it related back to my concept and idea. Such as the lyric “their all the same” the same coincides with the cut to the scene of the two masked people in the bedroom which suggests that they are all conforming and everyone has fears, obstacles or hindrances. Whether it was from a chorus to a verse or a different chord by matching up these points I was able to further integrate the song with the video making them seem more natural together. I also liked how many shifts in setting coincided with a shift in the song. I was also quite pleased with the sequence of shots that lead the protagonist down the stairs especially the one that framed her with the rails as it suggested a sort of entrapment of our protagonist. That we could all be plagued with hindrances and obstacles in life and how we all strive for a goal. The apathetic performance was also a highlight as it helped convey the idea that the girl could be anyone. Such as the use of many similar shots (mentioned above) such as use of the over-the-shoulder shots for both and the less subtle overlaid image of the mask over a close-up of our protagonist. I was especially pleased with the connection between the masked book girl and the protagonist and the many ways they were subtly linked together. In the end I was pleased about how this opening to a film turned out. At the beginning and the end i faded both sides as i didn't want the film to cut as i believed it to be too abrupt so a 1-2 second fade proved to be effective. I then adjusted the opacity to approximately 10% and faded both ends to gain a smooth fade in. I was then able to import it on to premiere pro then drag it on as a second video on the same time. For the shot with the mask overlaid over the face of our protagonist i had to first cut out the mask on Adobe Photoshop then save it as a png. This I believe mixed the two parts together making them appear more integrated and natural. As explained before the cuts between matched mostly with crucial or strong moments of the song such as when we are surprised with the movement of the masked people into the street the guitar solo begins at that moment. ![]() I edited them in a way to gain the least jumpy end product as some shots were unusable. ![]() When I found all the shots I needed they were editing together and then finalized and matched with the music to present a more integrated feel. I also had to sort through many scenes that were deemed unusable due to excessive “shaky-cam” or bloopers. Editing images for moving image production: Because the video camera I used was not of the greatest quality I was able to play around with the effects in order to increase the quality of my video such as color corrections and highlighting/shadows. ![]()
